Filter Sand
There are several types of sand filters, each designed for specific filtration needs. Here are some of the common types for which Absorb provides media.
Slow Sand Filter: Water passes through a bed of sand at a slow rate. The filtration process relies on both physical straining and biological activity. (Farm Filters).
Rapid Sand Filter: Water flows rapidly through a bed of sand, typically combined with a coagulant to aid in particle removal. (Large-scale water treatment plants).
Pressure Sand Filter: Water is forced through a sand bed under pressure. (Application include Industrial, Aquariums, Pools, Oil & Gas, Wastewater).
Dual Media Filter: Combines sand with another media, such as anthracite coal, to improve filtration efficiency. This is used when a higher level of filtration is required.
Multi-Layer Sand Filter: Uses layers of different-sized media, including sand, gravel, and sometimes other materials, to optimise filtration by capturing a range of particle sizes.
Each type of filter has its advantages depending on the specific application and desired water quality.
